Successor Agency

Background

In 2011, legislation dissolved all California redevelopment agencies, effective Oct. 1, 2011. The legislation prevents redevelopment agencies from conducting new activities and further dictates the process to wind down the county’s successor agency financial affairs.

The housing functions of the redevelopment agency were transferred to the Economic Development Agency’s Housing Authority. The non-housing functions were transferred to the Executive Office.

The Countywide Oversight Board established in 2018 consolidated the County of Riverside successor agency and the successor agency for all cities within Riverside County.
