Final three county redistricting maps available online
Redistricting public hearing will be held Dec. 7
During the Nov. 16 board meeting, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors determined to advance three draft maps for continued consideration, including two from the redistricting technical committee and one from the community. The deadline for the board to adopt a final map is Dec. 15, according to California law.
Community members can view the final three redistricting maps online at www.RivCo.org, including high-resolution versions of the maps that provide additional community-level detail.
Residents can also provide in-person or virtual input during an upcoming public hearing on Dec. 7 during the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting, which starts at 9:30 a.m. The time of the redistricting public hearing is subject to the board agenda.
“We have been committed to seeking input from the community throughout the entire redistricting process,” said Board Chair Karen Spiegel, Second District Supervisor. “Hearing feedback from residents has been extremely important as the work of the board, and the work of the county, is on behalf of our residents.”
The Board of Supervisors has reviewed and considered 37 total maps and held four prior public hearings on redistricting, including one in the evening. The fifth and final redistricting public hearing will be Dec. 7.
Redistricting ensures fair and equal representation on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to account for changes in population and communities of interest that share common social and economic factors.
