Three ways to cast a ballot this Presidential General Election 

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, voting will be different this year to accommodate for social distancing. 

All registered voters in California were mailed vote by mail ballots. In Riverside County, ballots started going out by mail on Oct. 5, with the final mailings on Oct. 9. There are three ways to cast, or return, ballots this year: through the mail, at a drop off site or in a voter assistance center.  

“We want all registered voters to know their options for casting their ballot this year,” said Riverside County Registrar of Voters Rebecca Spencer. “To avoid potentially long lines at voter assistance centers, consider returning your ballot by mail or at a drop off location. Returning your ballot early also means it will be included in the first round of Election Night results at 8 p.m.” 

First, ballots can be returned through the U.S. Postal Service mail system in the pre-paid envelope provided with the ballot. Envelopes must be signed by the voter. All ballots postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and received up to 17 days after the election will be counted. 

Second, ballots can be cast at any one of the 80 ballot drop off locations, including specific city halls, libraries and community centers. These drop off locations are already accepting ballots throughout Riverside County. 

Lastly, if someone requires in person assistance with their ballot, such as a need for a replacement ballot or to use the ballot marking machine, a voter may visit an in-person voter assistance center from Oct. 31 – Nov. 3. Unlike polling places, voters are not assigned to a specific location and may visit any one of the 130 voter assistance centers. Tres formas de votar en esta Elección Presidencial General 

A consecuencia de la pandemia del coronavirus, las votaciones serán diferentes este año para mantener el distanciamiento social. 

A todos los votantes registrados en California se les envió una boleta por correo. En el Condado de Riverside, las boletas empezaron a ser enviadas por correo el 5 de octubre y para el 9 de octubre ya todas debieron ser enviadas.  Hay tres formas de emitir su voto y regresar su boleta este año: por el servicio postal, en puntos de entrega o en centros de asistencia electoral. 

“Queremos que todos los votantes registrados conozcan sus opciones para votar este año,” dijo la Registradora de Votantes del Condado de Riverside Rebecca Spencer. “Para evitar largas filas en las casillas, considere regresar su boleta por correo o en uno de los puntos de entrega. Al llenar y regresar su boleta con anticipación su voto será incluido en la primera ronda de resultados preliminares la Noche de la Elección a las 8 p.m.” 

Primero, las boletas pueden ser regresadas a través del Servicio Postal de los Estados Unidos en el sobre prepagado provisto con la boleta. Los sobres deben ser firmados por el votante. Todas las boletas con matasellos de o antes del 3 de noviembre y recibidas hasta 17 días después de la elección serán contadas.   

Segundo, las boletas pueden ser emitidas en cualquiera de los 80 puntos de entrega de boletas, incluyendo ayuntamientos específicos, bibliotecas y centros comunitarios. Estos puntos de entrega ya están aceptando boletas a lo largo y ancho del Condado de Riverside.   

Por último, si alguien requiere asistencia en persona con su boleta, como por ejemplo reemplazarla o usar la máquina para marcar la boleta, puede acudir a un centro de votación en persona desde el 31 de octubre hasta el 3 de noviembre. A diferencia de las casillas electorales, a los votantes no se les asigna un sitio en específico y pueden visitar cualquiera de los 130 centros de asistencia electoral.
