Riverside University Health System’s Palm Springs Community Health Center Now Providing Services in a Brand New Facility

Riverside University Health System’s Palm Springs Community Health Center will provide health, dental and behavioral health services all in one location.

PALM SPRINGS, CALIF.— Riverside University Health System (RUHS) is excited to announce that the Palm Springs Community Health Center, formally known as Palm Springs Family Care Center, will begin serving patients from a brand new facility this week. The all-new 35,000 sq. ft. facility is conveniently located near the previous location, and will continue to provide the same services, as well as additional healthcare options such as dental care. The clinic will also offer Public Health services such as WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), HIV/STD testing and family planning as well as Behavioral Health services offering support, resources and referrals for those needing care with mental health conditions.

Community Health Centers (CHCs) play an important role in the healthcare delivery system by bringing comprehensive high-quality primary health care services to largely underserved communities. Providing a full array of services, CHCs receive funding from Medicaid, Medicare, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and patients based on a sliding fee scale and ability to pay. No one is ever turned away from receiving care in these centers. This new location will continue to offer medical, dental, mental health and health promotion services to both adults and children, with all disciplines working collaboratively to ensure patients overcome barriers to living a healthier life. In addition to laboratory and imaging needs, physicians also can provide comprehensive diabetes care, chronic disease management and many other health needs that a primary care doctor usually offers.

The all-new clinic is conveniently located near the previous location at 191 Sunrise Way in Palm Springs.

“The expansion of county health services in Palm Springs, through our new state-of-the-art Palm Springs Community Health Center, is a major advancement for health care in the Coachella Valley,” said Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “At over three times the size of the previous location, this community health center will have significantly more space to integrate services, delivering care to the most vulnerable. I am very proud of our new community health center in Palm Springs, and acknowledge the Desert AIDS Project, whose campus expansion made this new facility possible.”

Zareh Sarrafian, Assistant County Executive Officer for Health & Hospital Services in Riverside County said “By providing a variety of healthcare services, education and resources in one location RUHS is delivering patient-centered and integrated care that responds to the unique needs of medically underserved populations. This holistic approach will enable our team of providers to more effectively meet the needs of our patients while improving health outcomes and the quality of life for many of our county’s residents.”

Currently, RUHS operates 13 community health centers in locations throughout Riverside County. Many of the patients who seek care at these health centers face significant difficulties to accessing high quality, cost efficient care and would otherwise be unable to access or afford the care they need.

The top priority of RUHS is to make the transition into this new space as efficient as possible. We are committed to ensuring that our patients do not experience any interruptions in services at this time. RUHS will host a ribbon cutting ceremony soon with Supervisor Perez and other county leadership to commemorate the opening of this clinic.
